North Dakota's flag shows off its beautiful state seal.  It shows a bald eagle holding an olive branch in its right claw and arrows in its left.  The olive branch stands for peace and the arrows stand for the power to make war, if necessary.  Above the eagle are thirteen stars for the original thirteen states and sun rays depict the birth of a new nation.  The state's name appears on a red scroll below the eagle.
